The Challenge
What Needed Solving.
Kerapot makes traditional Kerala foods — pickles, baby food powders, spices, jackfruit and banana products — that had an audience well beyond the people who could reach the kitchen. Selling them online meant solving a specific problem: almost every product comes in several weights at different prices, and buyers of homemade food need to see exactly what they are getting before they will trust it.
The Solution
How We Approached It.
We designed and built a storefront on OpenCart shaped around how these products actually sell — by category, by weight, and by trust.
Weight as a First-Class Choice
Each product carries its weight variants with individual pricing, so a 100g trial and a 1kg restock are the same product rather than three competing listings.
Category-Led Browsing
Eight clear categories — pickles, baby foods, spices, banana and jackfruit products, herbs, nuts, kondattam — each on a readable URL rather than a query string.
Savings Made Visible
Discounts surface on the product card itself, so the offer does its work during browsing instead of waiting until checkout.
Built for Basket Size
A free-shipping threshold, coupon codes, gift certificates and a shipping estimator, all reachable from the cart.
Trust Signals Throughout
Product photography of the real packaging, secure-payment and support messaging, and linked social accounts — the things that decide whether someone buys food from a name they don't know yet.
The Work
Through the Store.
